I was one of the lucky participants on the course with Gary O'Toole. Each of the sessions was dedicated to a Graha or planet. We practiced  Asana, Mantra, Pranayama, besides teachings on the Vayus, Doshas and Gunas, and the general working of each pertaining Planet. This course is absolutely unique. Take it slow. Revisit sections when needed and give yourself time to internalize each insight. All lessons will be available to watch and listen back to whenever you want. 

I've always followed Western astrology. Will this clash?
Not at all. This guide complements Western astrology, offering a more holistic view.

What types of prediction methods are used in Vedic astrology?
Vedic astrology relies on a variety of prediction methods, such as daśās, yogas, and transits. Daśās look at periods of time in which particular planets are at their most influential; Yogas analyze the relationship between planets and signs to show certain results; and transits look at the movement of planets as triggers for what has been emphasized.

Challenges to overcome during the course

Understanding the diverse components of Indian astrology
Indian astrology includes many different components. This can be overwhelming for students and they might struggle to get a comprehensive understanding of the system. This course has done all the heavy lifting for you, so you can apply the techniques from the very beginning of your studies. 

Differentiating between the houses
Many astrology students can struggle to differentiate between the houses and how their meanings apply to each area of life. This is a crucial concept in astrology and many students might not intuitively understand it. This course brings the houses to life in a way that is understandable and relatable. 

Comprehending how to use transits
Another challenging concept for many Indian astrology students is comprehending how to use transits. There can be many variables involved when looking at transits and many students may not know where to start. Indian astrology as a very specific way of placing importance on certain transits over others. The course manual lists all the planets' transits to all the houses, giving you a tool you can refer to at any time. 

Learning how to interpret the data
Many students might struggle to understand the nuances and bring together all the elements to make predictions. I have over 20 years of experience reading charts. I've made all the mistakes, so you don't have to! However, I do encourage students to make as many mistakes as possible during the course. You will learn more this way. Chart reading is a skill in bringing all the elements together to make predictions, something even advanced students can feel daunted by. It is important for Indian astrology students to understand the strengths and weaknesses of each planet in a chart. Many students can struggle to stick to a consistent study routine. Establishing a study routine can help students stay focused, as well as offer a spiritual practice that helps stabilize their minds. Indian astrology is a practice just like meditation is a practice. The more regularly you do it, the more you benefit from it. The weekly classes will give you the discipline you need to stick with it. Each lesson is begun with a mantra meditation to open the mind for the transmission of the Jyotir Vidyā.
