Overview
Sweeping changes take place in 2019, interrupting the current order. This has a profound impact on ethics, laws and truth; holding to account institutions and individuals in charge of upholding these, such as leaders, teachers, judges and priests.
As planets gather in Sagittarius, including the sign’s ruler, Jupiter; joining Saturn and Pluto, the stage is set for some big shake ups to follow that will reshape and reorder our world in the coming years.
But the old order must break down first!
Things starts to break down as soon as the south node (Ketu) joins Pluto in March, just as Jupiter stations at 0 degrees of Sagittarius.
We experience further destabilization as the south node joins Saturn, transiting alongside each other from April until October; the keynote conjunction of 2019, and one that will leave its mark for years to come. Saturn requires discipline; that we face reality, while the south node makes us reject our responsibilities. This is tricky.
It may seem like the very fabric of society is being ripped apart in 2019, but we must remind ourselves that certain things need to be uprooted and removed if they stand in the way of progress whatever that means to you personally.
The south node gives us a sense of cosmic perfection, often at the expense of material satisfaction. That sense of being struck by the absolute destructive, yet awe inspiring, capabilities of nature, for example. This will likely take a watery route in 2019 due to the lunar sign involved (Purva Asadha). Water shortages and contamination are also possible. We want to check out on some level (south node), even though we know we must face up to reality (Saturn).
Things will be brought up from the past, to be dealt with now; things that cannot be put off any longer. It’s not enough to know, we must act on new information. However, we are likely to leave it until it gets so bad that we have no choice left. This is what we do, and the journey from Sagittarius to Capricorn, which begins in 2019, and takes a firmer hold in 2020. It’s time to get real, and realize that reality is our friend, not our enemy, as we delve into the untruths that have taken hold and see what must be removed and what must be restored.

January
The New Year begins with Saturn in combustion (conjunct the Sun), somewhat dampening the mood and requiring us to focus our energy. This sense of withdrawal after the festivities is increased by the waning Moon which asks us to begin anew on January 5/6. This new Moon is a partial solar eclipse in Purva Asadha; the lunar sign where we see the goddess of the waters, Apah, with water issues prominent for the very start.
This eclipse reveals something of the dynamics of power over the weak, the deceptions of those in government over its people, for example. Mercury transits this degree by mid-January, while Saturn transits here in February, July and October. We can expect some things to be unearthed then.
The Sun enters Saturn’s sign, Capricorn on January 14, bringing further Saturn-type themes for the remainder of the winter. This is the case every year, of course. However, this year Saturn aspects Aquarius. Saturn represents the established order, while the Sun represents rulers and governments. Their conjunction lead to power struggles, while the Sun’s transit through Saturn’s signs until mid-March highlights the public needs and the governments responsibilities during the winter months.
The full Moon is on January 21 and this is also a total lunar eclipse in the lunar sign, Pushya. This lunar sign is ruled by Brihaspati, adviser to the gods, and represents nourishment; of body, mind and soul. This eclipse brings up blocks AND breakthroughs in relation to what we're being nourished by. Mercury enters Capricorn on this day too, bringing a need to talk about these issues in a pragmatic manner. The focus on Cancer and Capricorn highlights the balance we must achieve between doing what we must (Capricorn), even if we don’t feel like it (Cancer). With Jupiter coming to exact conjunction with Venus in Scorpio by January 23, and Jupiter influencing the full Moon, there is certainly the possibility that we will veer towards too much pleasure seeking to avoid dealing with the harsh reality. Although a period to explore the sensual side of life, the hidden dynamics in seeking comfort and nourishment are played out.
Venus then moves to the end of Scorpio, towards the tail of the Scorpion, and the lunar sign, Mula, the juncture between Scorpio and Sagittarius on January 29, where Jupiter will station later in March/April. This give insights into a major blip ahead; the dip that occurs in relation the economy and a sense of order.

February
Mars moves out of a helpful exchange with Jupiter and into its own sign, Aries on February 5. Mars is active in its own sign. It moves into a conjunction with Uranus on February 13/14; showing an exciting and thrilling Valentine's Day. Mars may like to have things straight forward, but nothing is straight forward about Uranus!
Mars and Uranus in Aries is more conducive to self-interest than sharing the love, despite the Sun having just moved into Aquarius. Uranus' divisive and explosive influence in Aries will be more apparent at this time.
On a global scale, we are likely to see more wedges being driven through the cracks that have appeared in terms of interpersonal relations and between countries. Aries is self-centred, creating a 'me and them' approach, 'egged on' by Mars and Uranus.
Mercury enters Aquarius on February 7 and joins Neptune by February 19. It begins to slow down at the end of this sign, before backing into it again by mid-March, eventually leaving Aquarius by April 10.
Communicating from Aquarius can be unpredictable at the best of times; while Saturn’s aspect ensures a heavy thought process around all the uncertainty and future direction of humanity. Mercury breaks the rules, before it dives into Pisces by February 25; a confusing transit for the planet of rational thought.
The Sun enters Aquarius on February 13 and into a strong aspect from the signs’ ruler, Saturn. This places restriction on our energy levels and vitality, especially as Saturn is in exact aspect to the Sun on March 8. The Sun in Aquarius opens our hearts to the world's plight, requiring us to focus on the balance of power in the world.
Venus joins Saturn in Sagittarius on February 18 and then Pluto by February 23, bringing a level of restraint to pleasures, while offering up unusual tastes to indulge in.
Venus moves into Capricorn on February 25, as Mercury enters Pisces, its sign of debilitation for the first time (Mercury will return to Pisces on April 10).
During the latter part of February, the Sun is influenced by Saturn, while Mars, although strong in its own sign, is transiting a division of weakness. These complex transits build tensions around the world, and in the lead up to Brexit, showing much doubt and fear about our future direction.

March
Mercury stations retrograde in Pisces on March 5, its sign of debilitation. Although Mercury’s debilitation is cancelled due to its retrograde transit, it is still a confusing time in March in terms of practical matters. It’s most certainly not business as usual! During the half-way point in the retrograde, Mercury meets the Sun as it moves back into Aquarius, while the Sun enters Pisces on March 14. This period grants some insight, albeit shrouded in a lot of misinformation, especially around March 25 as Mercury joins Neptune, the 'planet of fantasy'. Mercury is influenced by the north node which casts an aspect from Mercury's sign, exaggerating the environment, creating anxiety and irrational thinking, and hopefully some innovative approaches.
The mean nodes move into Gemini and Sagittarius on March 7, while the true nodes move on March 23. Some astrologers use the true nodal position for transits, and the mean nodal positions in horoscopes. Either way, the nodes are moving in March and setting up a dynamic that will see some dramatic events down the line, especially by the end of 2019, as the north node moves into the lunar sign Ardra, and the south node moves into Mula; two 'sharp and dreadful' lunar mansions.
On March 14, Jupiter enters the gandanta (undoing) position at the very end of sidereal Scorpio, and then into the first degree of Sagittarius on March 29.
Jupiter will remain at this sensitive juncture, as if slipping into a crack in the pavement, for most of April, challenging cohesion and a sense of unity.
Venus moves into Aquarius on March 21, joining Neptune and a retrograde Mercury in a sign that is all about thinking outside the box. As ever, boundary issues are prominent when Aquarius is highlighted, playing out in all kinds of boundary and border issues.
Mars moves into Taurus on March 22, leaving its home and fiery transit in Aries, to try and settle down in Taurus. I write ‘try’ because Mars needs a little patience in the fixed modality of Taurus, preferring instead to move about freely. This can lead to frustrations if we are not mindful, especially due to Jupiter’s transit in March and April at the opposite end of the zodiac.
On March 28, Mercury stations direct, just as Jupiter is about to enter Sagittarius, while the Moon meets up with the south node, Pluto and Saturn in Sagittarius. This is very confusing indeed and reflects the uncertainty and volatility of Brexit at the end of the month. Mercury will join Neptune for a second time in Aquarius, as we continue to experience Saturn’s conjunction with the south node (coming to exact conjunction in April). With Mars in Taurus and Jupiter about to leave Scorpio, it brings awareness to the delicate balance of comfort and security, while being vulnerable to changes we are not in control of.
By March 29, Jupiter has moved to 0 degrees of Mula (lunar sign) in Sagittarius, while Saturn and Pluto join the south node, as well as the Moon, at the other end of the sign. Mars looks on from Taurus. This sends shock waves through the planet and nothing will be the same again, although looking back with hindsight, we can accept this is as part of the story moving forward.

April
There are many indications of change and uncertainty in April. Mercury is moving slowly conjunct Neptune (Mercury + Neptune = confusion), and a long-lasting and impacting conjunction occurs as Pluto and Saturn meet the south node (south node with Pluto April 5 - 9).
These conjunctions show a breaking down of order (Pluto/South Node in Sagittarius, with Jupiter stationing retrograde at 0 degrees of Sagittarius), with confusion over the facts and the impact it will have on humanity (Mercury/Neptune in Aquarius).
Venus conjuncts Neptune on April 10, just as Mercury re-enters its sign of debilitation. This adds further confusion, while Mercury’s debilitation adds to a sense of bewilderment. The flip side of these transits is the ability to shake things up. The world will certainly be shaken in April.
The Sun takes its annual jaunt through its sign of exaltation, Aries from April 14. This is a stronger indication for the latter part of the month, with further strength added by Venus’ arrival in its sign of exaltation, Pisces on April 15. Not only does this place both the Sun and Venus in strong positions, it helps Mercury’s debilitation.
The Sun is conjunct Uranus while in Aries, exact on April 22, and this excites us, on the one hand, but places fear about the sense of what’s new, on the other; once again highlighting a sense of individuality and independence.
We still have the uncertainty of Jupiter retrograde at 0 degrees of Sagittarius, returning to Scorpio on April 23, but we must get on with the business of the day.
Saturn and the true south node are exactly conjunct in April, and the main indication of the breakdown of a system and order. This can bring up a lot of fear for the rest of the year, as they remain within one degree from each other, or exactly conjunct, until late October. They will conjunct again in July by exact degree; a highly volatile period. Understanding what must be broken down in your own life, in relation to the house position of Sagittarius, and the indications of Scorpio, Capricorn and Aquarius, will help you to remove what you must at this stage, despite the fears (Scorpio) you may have about these necessary changes.
Pluto stations retrograde at the very end of sidereal Sagittarius by April 24, hovering at the end of a new world order, bringing us back to the drawing board and the rules of a new game.
Pluto's backtrack through the late degrees of Sagittarius, stationing at the eclipse degrees, in April and October, means we have more of the old order to break down before we can move forward with the new, as we continue the process of dismantling old structures. The new doesn’t begin in earnest until early 2020, as Pluto enters sidereal Capricorn, in exact conjunction with Saturn.
To top off a month of change, we have Saturn station retrograde on April 30, which means Pluto and Saturn are both very slow in transit, putting the pressure on to make these changes.
April requires much patience and discipline, as these changes happen in our personal lives and around the globe.

May
May is usually one of the kinder months of the year, as the Sun, and typically Mercury and Venus, enter Taurus. This May, however, Mercury and Venus are placed in Aries, while Saturn and the south node continue their close conjunction, as Mars joins the north node in Gemini. All of this makes for a volatile beginning to a very intense summer ahead.
Mercury moves out of debilitation and into Aries on May 3, joining Uranus on May 8. This brings more of a sense of direction, but not the route we expected!
Mars moves into Gemini by May 7, into an opposition to the Saturn/South Node conjunction, as well as Pluto. This begins a summer of violent upheavals and destruction, as the softness of May is severely challenged. Mars moves into a particularly volatile sign when it moves into Ardra on May 17; the lunar mansion within sidereal Gemini, getting ever closer to the north node at the end of the sign. Mars' conjunction with the north node occurs in June, while it is also opposite Saturn’s conjunction with the south node, and later in the month opposing Pluto. This is highly volatile.
Venus moves into Aries on May 10, conjunct Uranus on May 18. It’s now out of its sign of exaltation, further inflaming the situation in Mars’ sign in May, with the Sun and Mercury in Aries also.
The Sun moves into Taurus on May 15, opposing Jupiter which continues to retrograde through Scorpio. This feels more grounded, while Jupiter gets us back to the drawing board.
Mercury joins the Sun in Taurus on May 21, after it enters the sign on May 18, further enhancing a more practical approach to all the changes happening for the latter part of the month.
Mercury is opposed by a retrograde Jupiter on May 31, and we are thankful for some sanity within the chaos.

June
Saturn and the south node continue to conjunct in June, exact by the end of the month, as Mars adds an even more violent tone while in opposition. This ends with Mars’ debilitation later in the month, and Mercury joining the aggressive tone. June is highly volatile as a result, leading to many possibilities for fighting.
Mercury enters Gemini on June 1, joining Mars and the north node, while opposing Saturn and the south node. The summer intensity builds into the eclipses of July, as planets gathering on either side of the nodes.
Venus enters Taurus on June 4, bringing the much-needed comfort from the fraught situation building in Gemini/Sagittarius. As Venus moves, however, the Moon joins Mars and Mercury in Gemini, fueling aggressive communication and actions, as we retreat from perceived threats by seeking pleasure and comfort elsewhere.
Mars is conjunct the north node on June 12 and this frustrates things further, blocking progress, due to its involvement with to the north node, and Saturn on the opposite end of the zodiac. This is highly volatile throughout June and eventually leads to a burn out when Mars enters its sign of debilitation, Cancer on June 22, the Solstice.
The Sun enters Gemini on June 15, and although usually an enjoyable and sociable time of year, we must be aware of the potential for disturbances and acts of violence when out and about. Mars and Mercury are exactly conjunct on June 17, still very close to the nodes and opposite Saturn and Pluto.
Mercury enters Cancer on June 20, a more emotional space for communicating from. Neptune stations retrograde on June 21, the Solstice, in sidereal Aquarius and the lunar sign, Purva Bhadra. This is a ‘fierce’ lunar mansion, relating to idealism and violence. Neptune’s presence simply confuses us as to what is worth fighting for, or who we are fighting! One example of this is cybercrime.
Neptune’s retrograde until November 27 adds more confusion around these issues.
Venus enters Gemini by June 29, leaving the comfort of Taurus.

Venus enters Gemini by June 29, leaving the comfort of Taurus.
July
The month begins with the waning Moon and a total solar eclipse in 'dreadful', but purposeful Ardra; the lunar mansion contained within sidereal Gemini. This is a highly volatile reset point in the year, as we all fight for our causes.
Saturn and the south node continue to conjunct in Sagittarius, with the north node opposite in Gemini. To add to the confusion, Mercury, the planet which rules where the north node is placed - stations retrograde in Cancer on July 7 until August 1. It does so alongside Mars in debilitation, coming into exact conjunction on July 9. This has the potential to create at least some arguments, and at most, some potential for warlike situations. Mercury returns to Gemini on July 30, as it briefly revisits the last degree of the sign until August 2.
The Sun joins the north node on July 9, opposing Saturn and the south node. A Sun/Saturn opposition is enough to trigger power struggles, but with the nodes we can see even more potential for disturbances and confusion. The Sun enters sidereal Cancer on July 16 for the full Moon phase in Capricorn, highlighting the balance between private and public, but not before opposing Pluto, on July 14. This leads to further power struggles; behind the scenes and in plain view, as we experience a partial lunar eclipse on July 16/17, in Uttara Asadha, the 'unchallenged' lunar sign, challenging us to make the necessary changes.
Venus joins the north node on July 18, after opposing Saturn on July 16. With Mercury and Jupiter retrograde at this time, ruling the signs involved, we are likely to see some complications in all kinds of affairs at this time.
Venus enters Cancer on July 23, joining Mercury in Cancer on July 24, before Mercury re-enters Gemini on July 30.
A Venus/Mercury combination is usually easy and fun, but this conjunction is complicated by Mercury’s retrograde. Be mindful of this in terms of your practical life, including business and travel plans, as well as relational matters in general.

A Venus/Mercury combination is usually easy and fun, but this conjunction is complicated by Mercury’s retrograde. Be mindful of this in terms of your practical life, including business and travel plans, as well as relational matters in general.
August
Although Saturn and the nodes begin to separate a little in August, we are not out of the woods yet, as they continue to transit alongside each other due to Saturn’s retrograde until the end of September; returning Saturn to an exact conjunction with the south node in October.
Mercury stations direct on August 1, at the very edge of Gemini, before returning to Cancer on August 2. We’re moving over emotional territory already covered and should be more able to at least understand the dynamics a little better this time around.
Mars enters Leo on August 8, adding more strength and fire to the mix in late summer. The initial move is weak and sensitive as Mars moves from its exact degree of debilitation on August 6 into a position of strength in Leo.
Jupiter then stations direct in Mars’ sign, Scorpio, on August 11, bringing more clarity in how to move beyond a highly volatile and, hopefully, a highly productive summer period.
Venus enters Leo on August 16, followed by the Sun on August 17, and Mercury, on August 26. This means Venus is in combustion and travelling through the sensitive juncture between Cancer and Leo: gandanta (undoing). Venus significations are hampered at this time, including diplomacy and fair play, while the Sun's strength then comes into our lives in a more robust way, as it joins Mars in Leo, adding further fuel to the flame.

September
Mars is in complete combustion on September 1, with the Sun and Mars placed in the center of Leo, a powerful position which offers a purification through fire. Mercury is not far behind, joining Mars by exact degree on September 3. This offers further intensification, requiring us to clarify our position during the purification.
Venus enters Virgo, its sign of debilitation on September 9, as we experience the usual burn out at the end of summer. Thankfully, Mercury enters Virgo on September 10, cancelling Venus’ debilitation; offering support through better communication.
Mercury is particularly strong in Virgo, but its strength is reduced by Venus' weakness. We may have to forgo our usual efficiency at this time of year to satisfy our relationships, e.g., we may have to help someone as we plan our busy lives.
The intensity of the Gemini/Sagittarius axis builds as the north node enters the ‘dreadful’ lunar section of Gemini, Ardra on September 12 (mean node); September 27 (true node). This reaches a peak into the end of 2019 and beginning of 2020, rearing its head during the eclipses at that time.
The Sun enters Virgo on September 17, as Saturn stations direct in Sagittarius on September 18. Saturn’s station grinds many things to a halt because of its aspect to Virgo and all the planets placed therein. This brings up more power struggles; between governments and the people, and in our personal lives. This is complicated by Saturn’s conjunction with the south node and its transit to the previous eclipse degree.
Mars enters Virgo on September 25 and into Saturn’s strong gaze, while staring back at Saturn. A Saturn/Mars combination feeds frustrations, and we feel challenged in dealing with setbacks.
Mercury enters Libra on September 29 and is the first to leave Saturn’s restrictive gaze, as it exchanges signs with Venus for a few days. This is a better situation overall; for relations and practical matters by the end of the month, but it's not without its setbacks due to Saturn's continued influence on the Sun, Mars and Venus in Virgo.

October
Saturn slowly moves forward in October, coming into an exact conjunction with the south node one last time. This continues to give us a sense of what we must do, conflicted with the need to run from our responsibilities. We might say, ''I know I shouldn't do this'', while at the same time saying, ''What the hell'''!
Although the nodes are said to be exalted in their current positions by many astrologers, the strength of these 'malefics' can bring out the best and worst. The south node in Sagittarius brings a spiritual inclination, often by destroying a sense of order. This increases religious fundamentalism. The north node in Gemini may add to technological advances, but it brings with it fear and paranoia, along with the increased mental stimulation.
Venus enters Libra on October 3, joining Mercury, and this helps us enjoy life and each other’s company, while we deal with all we must. Saturn's slow progress through a sign is reflective of the need to slowly push on and do what we must.
Pluto stations direct on October 3 in Sagittarius, just as the Moon joins Jupiter in Scorpio, leading to a need to look for hidden aspects involved in power struggles as Pluto transits the upcoming eclipse degree.
Power, or that lack thereof, becomes an issue when the Sun enters Libra on October 17, its signs of debilitation. At least it's out of Saturn’s restrictive gaze and Venus cancels its debilitation until October 28. We must look after our energy at this point, although keeping things on an even keel may be a challenge as the Sun opposes Uranus on October 20, scattering our energy even further.
Mercury enters Scorpio on October 23, slowing in its transit as it does so; in preparation for its retrograde station on October 31. It will retrograde back into Libra in November, before re-entering Scorpio in December, so this is just a preview of what's to come.
Venus enters Scorpio on October 28, conjunct a stationary Mercury on October 30. With the Moon in Scorpio, we can see emotional strength being sought, although not necessarily easily expressed.

November
November sees Saturn move past the south node after many months travelling together. Saturn now moves towards Pluto at the end of sidereal Sagittarius, offering further conflicts the world will be jaded by at this point. For real change to occur, however, we need to be sick and tired of the way things are.
Jupiter re-enters gandanta (undoing) on November 1, bringing us back to themes of March/April. Jupiter enters Sagittarius on November 4, a transition to big themes that are about to play out in our 'New World Order' in the coming months. Thankfully, Jupiter is strong in its own sign to steer us to safer waters.
Mercury re-enters Libra on November 9 due to its retrograde. Relationships of all kinds will be tested, casting our minds back to interpersonal and financial concerns.
Mars enters Libra on November 10, exchanging signs with Venus in Scorpio until the end of the month, bringing out hidden dynamics in our relations. This means that Scorpio is hemmed in by Saturn on one side and Mars on the other. This will be more relevant when the Sun enters Scorpio on November 16 and out of its sign of debilitation. It moves closer to the part of the zodiac that will experience big shake ups in the coming years, but for now we are offered insights behind the scenes if we are open to the hidden dynamics involved.
Venus enters gandanta (undoing) at the end of Scorpio on November 20, before entering Sagittarius on November 21, and joins Jupiter already settling into its own sign – coming into exact conjunction with Jupiter on November 24. Jupiter and Venus’ conjunctions lead to indulgences, while Sagittarius offers up a moral standpoint born from a sense of what is not right. Sagittarius can represent a dogmatic rule of thumb, especially when hosting Pluto and Saturn.
Mercury stations direct in Libra on November 20, bringing it back into contact with Mars and the north node. Frustrations are understandable at this juncture but holding onto the way things were will only hold you back.

December
Venus leaves its conjunction with Jupiter and joins the south node by December 3/4, Saturn on December 11/12, and then Pluto on December 13. This means Venus is either conjunct or hemmed in by the malefic planets in December, leading to less than cordial environment which will be more obvious in relation to ethical behaviour - or the lack thereof.
Venus enters Capricorn on December 15, leaving what is about to become the most talked about thing in our life: the sign Sagittarius and what it represents for us, individually and collectively.
Mercury re-enters Scorpio on December 5, joining the Sun as they are hemmed in between Saturn and Mars. ‘Hemmed in’ will be the theme of December, as we can no longer continue the way things are but don’t know how to move forward as yet. Saturn is on one side of the Sun in Sagittarius, while Mars is on the other in Libra.
The Sun moves out of this hemmed in transit when it enters Sagittarius on December 16, joining the south node for an annular solar eclipse on December 26. This occurs in Mula, the lunar sign pointing to the center of our galaxy. We are granted an opportunity to see into the origins of things, uprooting us in the process of unearthing that which has been left to fester and rot.
Pluto, Saturn, Jupiter, Mercury, the Sun and Moon all placed with the south node in Sagittarius for the eclipse on December 26. Mercury will have just moved into Sagittarius on December 25, with Mars moving into Scorpio, before an intense solar eclipse grabs the worlds attention.
This is a dramatic end to a dramatic year, as the eclipse opens a sense of uncertainty into 2020.
The solar eclipse in Mula (root) a 'dreadful' lunar mansion, placed in Sagittarius is particularly destructive. With Mercury and Jupiter placed in the sign for the eclipse, and the south node entering in January 2020, we will see many things destroyed as we get to the root of the problem and, more importantly, remove weak foundations built by those we look to for guidance.
Thankfully, Jupiter is there, allowing us to be guided by our intuition.
