Jupiter transits sidereal Virgo from August 11 2016 until September 11 2017.
Virgo is Mercury's realm and very much opposite to Jupiter, as both rule signs which are opposite to each other (Gemini-Sagittarius, Virgo-Pisces). This brings a stark contrast between our analytical mind (represented by Mercury) and the profound experiences we cannot so easily explain (represented by Jupiter). We tend to get polarized in one direction or the other, as is the case when someone is too analytical, leaving little room for wonder and awe. On the other end of the spectrum, someone may pay attention to the magic and mystery of life, while paying little attention to a rational debate on the subject - someone more influenced by Jupiter. Now that Jupiter is about to enter Mercury's sign, it's time to bring those profound experiences into our everyday lives in a practical manner.
Put simply, it's time to walk the walk.
While Jupiter transits Virgo until September 2017, our big, meaningful ideas must go through an analysis which can feel a bit dry and too detail-orientated for this profound part of our life experience. How do you explain the profound, after all? If you have Mercury in Pisces, for example, you may take a pretty good stab at it. While Jupiter is in Mercury's sign, however, the profound needs to find expression through the mundane. It is like having a sense of all that is possible, and then having to check and re-check all of the fine print. It can get a bit stale - we can get a bit stuck in the mud. It can lead some to feeling less than optimistic about what is possible, when all we are presented with is all that is feasible.
Thankfully, Jupiter is no longer restricted by Saturn, or the shadow of the eclipse point, as it leaves the sign Leo. And, even though our big ideas have to come down to earth, we can now connect to our dreams in a more practical manner; checking every big wish for its validity - experiencing a spiritual practice as something tangible and necessary in our everyday lives.
As I wrote in my August 2016 Forecast: 'Jupiter in Virgo will promote problem solving, as well as connecting the dots in terms of health care and work regimes. This is a good time to bring more clarity into your routines, whether eating habits, exercise regimes or daily tasks; finding meaning in the mundane. This allows us to connect with each other through work, service, charity and healing'.
From Your Moon Sign & Rising Sign
Even though an accurate individualized interpretation - based solely on Jupiter's transit to Virgo - is not possible in an article, you can view certain general trends from this transit if you know your Moon sign and rising sign. The 'planetary period' you are currently experiencing, as well as the unique configurations of each of the planets in your horoscope, takes precedence.
To begin the analysis for yourself, however, you must distinguish between your Moon sign and rising sign, as Jupiter's transit will be different for both. Jupiter's transit from your Moon sign may benefit your mind and your sense of purposefulness for the coming year, but this may differ from the actual experiences in your life based on Jupiter's transit from your rising sign; representing your physical circumstances. Having the Moon positioned in your rising sign does not guarantee the same results either - even though your Moon sign and rising sign are the same - as Jupiter's transit to your Moon sign is a different experience than its transit to your ascendant. In this case, there will be mixed results as you experience physical improvements but this does not necessarily translate into a sense of purpose.
Jupiter gets you to spring out of bed in the mornings. Unlike Saturn and Mars, for example, which push and pull you! You may still get out of bed without a sense of purposefulness which Jupiter gives you, but having Jupiter in a positive transit from your Moon ensures you are fully on board with what you have to do, feeling as if your life is full of meaning. If you have a strong Jupiter in your birth chart, and Jupiter's current transit is beneficial for your Moon sign, then this is more pronounced. If you are also in a Jupiter 'time-period', during its transit, then even more so. However, if you have a weakly placed Jupiter in your birth chart, and you are not in a Jupiter time-period, then this transit can only modify any weakness, even if the transit is a positive one from your Moon sign or rising sign.
A weak Jupiter = a lack of purpose and direction.
Jupiter's upcoming transit in Virgo will be beneficial for those who have their Moon sign in Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Capricorn or Pisces, based on sidereal calculations. For all other Moon signs (Aries, Gemini, Cancer, Virgo, Libra, Sagittarius and Aquarius) the transit of Jupiter is not felt as beneficial. You may not feel the Divine moving through you. You may not necessarily feel that positive about your circumstances, even though they may actually be very beneficial (as viewed from your rising sign). This is the key difference between your rising sign and your Moon sign.
Guru
Jupiter's name in Sanskrit is Guru, which means 'dispeller of darkness'. Being guided well destroys doubt and fear, bringing expansion and a sense of what is the right thing to do. How do you feel when you meet with a Guru? The most intense sense of comfort. Just as Jupiter represents the adipose tissue which protects our organs and gives us a sense of comfort and protection; a Guru gives us a sense of comfort knowing our souls are cared for.
To get a sense of this in a very practical way - as Jupiter is about to transit the earth-dominant sign Virgo - let us not forget that Jupiter is actually physically protecting us here on Earth by diverting asteroids which would otherwise be set for a collision course with our planet. Actually, Jupiter also sends some our way too, hurtling asteroids into our atmosphere which would otherwise have missed the mark by a long shot. I guess like many great guides teach us, we sometimes have to experience a stern lesson to keep us on the right path!
It is interesting to note that Jupiter represents both a positive and negative area of life for each sign to some degree, except the signs it rules, i.e. Sagittarius and Pisces. For Leo, for example, it rules the all important 5th house of creativity, as well as the challenging 8th house of obstacles. Have you noticed that since Jupiter entered Leo in the summer of 2015 our sense of what is possible has also met with an inordinate amount of obstacles? This was due to Jupiter's transit through Leo, which also had the restrictive influence of Saturn, as well as the north node overshadowing Jupiter's benevolence.
All that is about to change as Jupiter steps out of the shadows, entering Virgo on August 11 2016.
The planet of wisdom and guidance can come back into our lives, albeit in a more down-to-earth and practical manner. Gone are the grand gestures and big plans in Leo, as we welcome in the detail-oriented nature of Virgo. We may get a little lost in all of the details in the coming year, but if we can find meaning in the mundane, and connect with the simple things in life, we can certainly make this transit a positive one.
How will you experience Jupiter in Virgo?
To follow is a list of some of the possible benefits of having Jupiter in Virgo for your rising sign. - NOT your Moon sign.
In relation to the signs in which both Jupiter and Saturn influence, i.e., Taurus and Capricorn, there is a great chance to make great strides forward in these areas of your life, as counted from your rising sign. So, for example, someone with the rising sign Cancer: the 7 and 11 houses are receiving both of these influences, and they can manifest more of what these areas represent. Hope and idealism (Jupiter), tempered with hard work and discipline (Saturn) can bring the desired results through the practical signs, Taurus and Capricorn.
Whatever you have got going on in either of these signs will benefit from Jupiter and Saturn's influence until January 2017, and again between June 21 and September 11 2017. When Saturn moves into Sagittarius by the end of January 2017, it will influence the air signs, Aquarius and Gemini, as well as Virgo. Therefore, Saturn will influence Jupiter once again between January 26 and June 21 2017. Although the sign Virgo will experience Saturn and Jupiter's influence simultaneously, Saturn's aspect to Jupiter in Virgo will hinder the expansion of Jupiter, as it transits its sign Sagittarius.
By this time, we must take a long, hard look at our hopes and dreams moving forward. Perhaps even letting some of them go in the name of what is within our reach.
For each rising sign, looking solely at Jupiter's transit in Virgo, the following are examples of Jupiter's benevolent influence:
Aries: better management of health and work routines.
Taurus: more creativity and the possibility of a new child (at least a better connection to the one(s) you have).
Gemini: a comfortable home environment and more feelings of stability.
Cancer: an increase in short travels and communication.
Leo: a change in wealth and a re-orientation of what is of true value.
Virgo: a new beginning on many levels and a new sense of self.
Libra: more time alone and letting go of struggles.
Scorpio: realized ambitions and increased associations.
Sagittarius: more work and a better public status.
Capricorn: broadening one's mind through study, with the possibility of travel.
Aquarius: a change in partner's finances, with more support from others.
Pisces: better relations and connections.

Finding Balance
Each of the signs is actually polarized, and each finds balance by moving towards its opposite. So, with Jupiter being placed in Virgo, the balancing of this detail-oriented sign is the opposite sign Pisces. Pisces is where Jupiter finds its expression through the wonder and mystery of life; through dreams and a sense of oneness with everyone and everything which is not so easy to articulate.
It helps us to tap into the mystery and magic of life while Jupiter is placed in Virgo so that we do not polarize ourselves. The desire for such will be there anyway, as every planet looks to its opposite position from where it is placed in the zodiac. So while we must experience more of the mundane while Jupiter is placed in Virgo, we have the desire to experience its opposite; the magic and mystery of life.
And when we can balance both of these, we can keep our feet planted firmly on the Earth, while taking pause to look to the Heavens in awe.
