New Moon in Capricorn The month begins with the new Moon in Sidereal Capricorn on Feb 4, in the lunar mansion, Shravana, which is all about listening and connecting the dots. This period offers us a pause before leaping into action, as Mars moves into Aries and kicks things off properly in 2019. Mars & Uranus in Aries Mars is in Aries from Feb 5; a period of new beginnings. Mars gets us moving, breaking new ground, which may require breaking things. Mars is active in its own sign, moving into a conjunction with Uranus on Feb 13/14; an exciting and explosive Valentine's Day. Mars may like to keep things straight forward, but nothing is straight forward about Uranus! This is more conducive to self-interest than sharing the love, despite the Sun having just moved into Aquarius. Uranus' divisive and explosive influence in Aries will be more apparent at this time. Read my article on Uranus in Aries and its impact here. We are likely to see more wedges being driven through the cracks that have appeared between individuals and countries. Aries is self-centred, creating a 'me and them' approach, 'egged on' by Mars and Uranus. This conjunction alone is enough to spark something, and with the Moon in Aries from Feb 10-12 we are likely to see something kick off through mid-month. While Aries is self-centered, and wants it yesterday; it finds its counterbalance in Libra which is all about compromise, where we see the Moon transit from Feb 23-25. Mercury in Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces We allow our minds to get ahead of our circumstances in February, not just because of Mars in Aries, but because of Mercury's swift transit through 3 different signs. Mercury finishes up in Capricorn on Feb 7, entering Aquarius as it joins Neptune by Feb 19; before diving deep into Pisces by Feb 25; a confusing transit for rational debate. Mercury's speed indicates one thing: we are due a retrograde review next month! Sun in Aquarius The Sun enters Aquarius on Feb 13 and shines the spotlight on all kinds of boundaries and border issues, while receiving a strong aspect from the signs’ ruler, Saturn. This requires us to focus our energy. The Sun in Aquarius opens our hearts to the world's plight, and the imbalance of power in the world. Full Moon in Leo The Moon transits the lunar sign, Rohini, meaning 'red one' on Valentine's Day. This is a passionate lunar day, although this is kept in check somewhat by Venus' conjunction with Saturn. The Moon reaches the sign Leo, and Magha, for the full Moon phase on Feb 19, just as Mercury comes to exact conjunction with Neptune in the opposite sign, Aquarius. We can expect things to heat up around the disruption of power at this time. Venus in Sagittarius and Capricorn Venus joins Saturn in Sagittarius on Feb 18 and then Pluto by Feb 23, bringing a level of restraint, while offering up unusual tastes to indulge in. Venus moves into Capricorn on Feb 25, and joins the south node, bringing out more elements from the past. From Feb 20-25, Mars transits the Cancer pada, the 'foot' or section of the lunar sign, Ashvini, which reflects an underlying weakness that can be frustrating. The Sun is strongly influenced by Saturn as Mercury enters its sign of debilitation and, although the perfect time for creativity and focus, can show a lack of clarity and direction.
