Venus in Cancer May 30 - July 4 Venus transits alongside Jupiter in Cancer in June and July, bringing both of these 'soft' planets together. This leads to feelings of comfort and security amid other, more challenging transits. Perhaps this is a time when many take a vacation and enjoy, not only the pleasures of a vacation (Venus), but also the expansion of one's worldview (Jupiter) when travelling. These two benevolent planets coming together can also create too much of a good thing! This can lead to overindulgence. But overall, this is a positive transit to Cancer; the natural 4th house of the zodiac, representing the home, comforts, peace and security. Another possible downside to these transits is you may experience an inner struggle between wishing to fulfill your sensual and sexual pleasures and of wanting to find meaningful experiences and connections as you do so. Of course, this can be achieved through enjoyment which has more meaning and substance than pure sensory overload. Venus moves into its shadow period by mid-summer (or mid-winter, depending on your location) and begins a period where we initiate an internal process of review and reflection around the things we value and love which we may have taken for granted. This marks the beginning of Venus' retrograde period from July 25 until September 6 - a period where we re-evaluate those people and things in our lives. As Venus moves over a sensitive juncture between Cancer and Leo by the end of June, our values are examined by creating situations which test our devotion. One simple question to ask is: Are you devoted to pleasing your senses or to something more meaningful? Full Moon in Scorpio June 2 The Moon reaches its fullest by 16.20 UT on June 2. This occurs in the Moon's sign of debilitation, Scorpio. The full Moon in its weakest sign can exaggerate hidden fears which we may latch onto for a few days, but if we are aware of the cycle we can navigate the inner turmoil with grace and objectivity thanks to Jupiter and Saturn. The Moon is weakest in Scorpio, as the mind dwells on the worst case scenario - building an emotional resilience in the face of perceived threats to one's security. Be mindful of this during the beginning of the month and you can ride the waves of uncertainty with poise. Mercury Stations Direct in Taurus June 11 Mercury's turnabout and return to direct motion is always a relief to our busy and driven lives. The pace around this turnaround is, however, frustrating and needs our patience as we negotiate with new facts coming to light as a reorientation takes place. This station intensifies the mental processes while we experience a burnout due to Mars' combustion opposite to Saturn, the planet of delay. If you are travelling on holiday by mid-June, you may need to pack a lot more patience. Being still may be more of a challenge as the mind becomes agitated and there is a heightened sense of anticipation in the air. However, because of Mars' position it may be wise to avoid beginning too much at this time. Mars is in combustion throughout the summer, so this is a burning season in more ways than one. Watch for fires in your environment and excessive heat in your mind and body. Mars in Gemini June 15 - July 30 Mars enters Gemini along with the Sun on June 15 and, as we come closer to mid-summer on the northern hemisphere, this has the potential of creating excessive and uncontrollable heat in our environment. Mars is not out of Saturn's restrictive influence and may feel like a lot of pent up energy needs to be released. Keep yourself cool, both physically and emotionally. Mars in combustion in Gemini may lead to many burning the candle at both ends. The resulting exhaustion is untimely, as mid-summer asks us to get out and enjoy the environment and other people, but we are less able to function at our optimal because of Mars' combustion. Pace yourself and this will not be as much of an issue. Mars in Gemini leads to an overactive imagination which can lead to excessive sexual activity. Sexual enjoyment is at its height in the summer which is heightened by Venus and Jupiter coming together during Mars' combustion and Mercury in Venus' sign, Taurus. The juice runs dry in the summer heat. Cool down your system, taking in cooling foods and impressions, walking by the water if you have access to a body of water. Sun in Gemini June 15 - July 15 The Sun enters Gemini alongside Mars for mid-summer and highlights our need to get out and about at this time of year. While Taurus was about enjoying the bounty which nature provides, Gemini represents the need to share our bounty with others and explore our shared interests. This may be a little strained this year due to Mars' presence and the current Mercury cycle. However, the Sun wins out at the end of the lazy days of summer and we can tune into the joy which is experienced by being with others and enjoying the stimulation. New Moon in Gemini June 16 The Moon reaches the same degree as the Sun by 14.07 UT on June 16. This new Moon phase, along with Mars in combustion, is a further indication of a burnout which needs to be balanced with relaxation techniques coming into mid-summer, or mid-winter; depending on your location. Rest more while you can and take more time off you are in a position to do so. The heat of the mid-day Sun during mid-summer is best spent at rest. While we take a pause at this juncture we can navigate our way forward with those close to us propping us up as we take some time out. Solstice June 21
The summer solstice on the northern hemisphere, and the winter solstice on the southern hemisphere, occurs on June 21 at 16.39 UT. This period of the Sun's transition is best spent recognizing this transition in our own lives and daily routines. This, and recent transits, points to a re-orientation, which needs to be navigated with consideration as we try to direct our actions to finding balance within what is an extreme juncture of the year. The heat is, most definitely, on and the days are long and demanding on the northern hemisphere. Take some time to slow down each evening so that you can arise refreshed each day. OM TAT SAT |
